Get Back to School Ready | Newport Mesa Moms

Organized and functional spaces are crucial for busy families!  Since summer is winding down and the start of school is only a few weeks away, we didn’t waste any time going straight to the professionals to help us get SCHOOL READY!

Enter Nicole, owner of Simply Seaside Organizing, a professional organizing company based out of San Clemente.

As a Professional Organizer, I’m often asked what my own home looks like and how I balance work and home life. Regardless, many mornings are inevitably stressful, but one way that I attempt to alleviate stress is by preparing for my day the night before, especially on school nights.  A typical morning before school is rushed, trying to get yourself and your kids ready.  Preparing the night before is so crucial in helping your morning run much smoother.  Try it, and you’ll see what a difference it makes!

Tip #1:

Pack lunches the night before!  Pull out the lunchboxes, get the snacks, make the sandwiches, fill up the water bottles, and set it all in the fridge.  In the morning, just toss in a napkin, utensils, or a sweet note (which you can have at the ready as well).  A lunch station is essential.  Allocate a cabinet or drawer space to hold all the lunch packing essentials (food storage, sandwich cutters, etc.).  Invite your children to be involved in the process.  You’ll be surprised how much some of them might enjoy having input on their lunch!

Tip #2:

Set out clothing the night before!  Involve your child in the selection process before bed to avoid a morning outfit meltdown.  Designate a hook in their room, bathroom, or area of the closet to hang their outfit.  Keep accessories, socks, and shoes together with their clothing so that the outfit is together and easily accessible.  Designate an area for backpacks and sports bags also, preferably on a hook in your child’s room, in a mudroom, or by the front door – whichever is most convenient!  This way it won’t be forgotten and you can ensure that homework and and any signed papers are inside your child’s backpack and ready to go.

These tips are easy to do, won’t cost you a thing, and will save you many headaches!  I am passionate about helping to create easy-to-manage systems for your spaces that help alleviate stress for families like yours, and hope that you and your kids have an awesome start to the school year!
