If you missed the toy swap, now is your chance to make it for the book swap. The Environmental Nature Center is hosting a Book Swap this Saturday, June 2nd as a part of their Living Greener Series. This event, free for members and $5 for non-members, hopes to help reduce waste in the landfills, eliminate packaging, and conserve energy simply by providing an opportunity for people to swap rather than buy and discard.
I personally have always had a hard time cleaning out my bookshelves since I was raised in a family that thought there was no such thing as too many books. I have almost all of my Berenstain Bears books from the 80’s by the way. But with kids, their taste and reading needs change (not to mention the fact that I am so sick of a few My Little Pony books), so this book swap is a great way purge and renew the bookshelves.
Here’s how it will work:
- Bring 1-30 books. All levels of books are accepted, from baby to adult.
- For each book you bring in, you will get a ticket. Tickets will be randomly drawn for the order of selecting someone else’s book.
- Any left-over items will go back with the original owner.
- Event runs from 12pm to 1:30 pm.
