Chelsie is a multi-tasking mom of three who tries to remind herself that the clean, perfect house can wait, especially when the kids want a dance party!
Where are you from originally?
Palm Desert (near Palm Springs), CA.
How long have you lived in Costa Mesa? How many kids and their ages?
About 11 years now. 3 kiddos – Ansofie (10), Parker (8), Amelia (6).
What are you favorite things to do with your kids in general or in town?
Dance (whenever there’s music!), play sports, go roller skating (at Fountain Valley Skating), go to Dodger/Angel games, paddle boarding and bonfires on the beach!
What’s your favorite restaurant in town for a family date? A night out with friends? Why?
With the family – Cafe Rio. We love it from our Utah days (where it started). With friends – Gulfstream, it’s the hottest spot in town! Plus I work there part-time, so the discount is a BONUS!!
What is your favorite kid-friendly recipe?
My girls are SUPER picky, but they ALL will always devour Lasagna!
What is your local go-to store for children’s clothes?
I always seem to find some “gems” at Ross on 17th, TJ Maxx (Harbor), and The Rack and Marshalls (Metro Pointe).
What are your favorite events in Costa Mesa or Newport Beach?
The Christmas Boat Parade, Halloween time in Costa Mesa with all the houses decorated, and of course, 4th of July here is the BEST! 😀
What has been the most difficult age with your children to date? What helped you overcome the challenges at that time?
I think right now is!! Seriously, our oldest daughter is a little overly dramatic (redhead). Our boy is going through the silliest, CrAzY phase (hope he grows out of it!), and all three together can be a circus at times. Haha! Trying to remain calm really helps, and working together as parents is crucial. We always have each other’s back!
What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms? What was the best advice your mom gave you?
I try to remind myself that the clean, perfect house can wait. Oh boy does it! To just enjoy this time with my kids because it goes fast!! The best advice was by my mom’s actions to “Forgive and Forget.” Also, she always said to “remember who you are” when we would leave the house; that just stuck with me, helped to keep me grounded.
What do you value most in your friends?
That we can let our hair down and just be ourselves. I just LOVE our GNO’s (Girls Night Out) for all the laughs!!! ;D
One thing people would be surprised to know about you.
I went to Prom with Milo Ventimiglia from the TV show ‘This is Us.’ I was featured in Us Weekly magazine about a month ago for being his Senior Prom Date! He was, and still is, such a CUTIE!!!
Guilty pleasure?
I don’t get to watch much TV, but I try to never miss a season of The Bachelor/Bachelorette. It’s my guilty pleasure! LOL!
What was your career before having children?
I managed a Sushi restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah. My husband came to California to start a business with his brother while I stayed in Utah for 5 more months. As soon as I moved here, we got pregnant!
Now?
I have my own business and sell girls ‘Twirly Dresses!’ The company is called DotDotSmile and we have the CUTEST, comfiest, one-of-a-kind dresses. They are designed to make girls feel beautiful and confident. I have two perfect models of my own, and have so much fun selling these dresses online, and at events and parties. If you have a little girl or know girls aged 6 months to 14 years, I guarantee both of you will fall in love with these dresses!!! I also have SUPER soft graphic tees, kick shorts and leggings.
