When you walk into Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids on 17th Street in Costa Mesa, you are in for more than a haircut. Sharkey’s prides itself on providing an experience for the kids, and a hassle-free visit for mom. I took both my girls to Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids right when they opened because I wanted to see what they were all about. My kids, not fans of change, weren’t sure why we were going somewhere new. And then they walked thru the door! Now, even though they want to grow their hair out long, they consistently tell me they think it is time for a “little trim.”

HERE’S WHY THEY ARE OBSESSED:
THE “CHAIRS” | Kids get to choose where they want to sit. With options like a Frozen car, fire engine, batcar or mini cooper, there is something for everyone. Older children can choose to sit in the X-Box Chairs or Teen Lounge.
THE ENTERTAINMENT | While their hair is getting styled they get to watch their favorite shows. There is even an option to play on the X-Box 360.
THE WASH | They got their hair washed just like mom does when she goes to the salon. They think that is pretty cool. Most hair salons for kids don’t even offer a wash. Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids always includes a wash with every visit.
THE STYLING | Cut, blow-dry and some super fabulous braids (or the latest “hip” boy style of the moment) have them feeling good.
THE DETAILS | A little glitter added to the hair (optional) and a bow are the perfect final touch (included in a “Girl’s Haircut”).
THE NAILS | This is the icing on the cake. Each “Girl’s Haircut” includes a Mini Cure (painted nails) and a ring.
THE GOODIES | A balloon and lollipop as they head out the door keeps them happy ALL the way home.

THE STYLISTS | We’ve had several different stylists over multiple visits and have been pleased with each one. Some stylists even specialize in children with special needs.
