Tried & True: Hiking with Baby | Newport Mesa Moms

It’s beautiful out, and whether you are looking to hit up the local Orange County trails, or are heading out for the summer on some outdoor adventures, don’t think you have to do it without the baby.  Our latest Tried & True is the Osprey Poco AG Premium Child Carrier.  The Osprey Carrier is a hiking backpack that has comfort and stability in mind for both adult and child.  While my children are long past the backpack stage, my sister, mom of an 18-month-old boy, swears by it.  She said it was “far superior to everything I have ever tried.  I carried it all over and I didn’t hurt.  It is well worth the investment.”  That says a lot coming from someone who has had various back problems over the years.

Among the things she liked:

  • comfortable at the waist
  • sun shade for child
  • includes a detachable backpack
  • camel drinking pouch compatible

My nephew was even able to take a nap in it, and was secure and comfortable.  The anti-gravity suspension and adjustable and removable stirrups made for a smooth ride, while the adjustable torso made for an easy transfer from mom to dad.

My sister purchased hers on Amazon HERE.  You can also find it at REI HERE.  Both are currently showing a $330 price tag, but if you are not in a hurry, you might catch it on sale.  There are two other models, the Poco AG and the Poco AG Plus, which offer less features, but also come in at a lower price.  (Please note:  her experience is with the Premium version only).
