In line with our recent post on 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, I thought it fitting that this week’s Tried & True post is about a book. My kids and I recently came across Shine-A-Light books. The title we have at home is The Human Body. It reads like any other book, but when you hold a flashlight up to the underside of the page, you can see INSIDE the body. Such a creative and fun way to engage young readers. I mean, who doesn’t like playing with a flashlight? (Visit @NewportMesaMoms on Instagram to see our video).
Other titles in the series include:
- On the Construction Site
- Secrets of the Seashore
- Secrets of Animal Camouflage
- On the Train
- Secrets of the Apple Tree
- On the Plane
- Secrets of Winter
- Secrets of the Rain Forest
- At the Garage
- Secrets of the Vegetable Garden
- On the Space Station
- Wonders of the USA
- Secrets of our Earth
All books in the series are written by Carron Brown, although the illustrators vary from book to book. Your best bet for finding the books will be online at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. I have had a hard time finding them in store (just another reason why moms love Amazon Prime).
